In times of radical change, we have to deal with questions that impact everyone's future lives. At the Light + Building 2018 we showcased, and talked about OSRAM's answers to these questions. Our visitors visited OSRAM to discover the day in the future city!
On this page we are providing some of the highlights we showcased 2018 in Frankfurt. Our main focus was on innovations from the areas of horticulture, street lighting, building management, indoor tracking and automotive lighting.

7.00 a.m – How will you start your day in the future?
For example: You wake up smoothly, thanks to Human Centric Lighting, and unlock your smartphone with face recognition.
9.00 a.m – How will you be mobile in the future?
For example: Camera sensors are able to recognize your vehicle’s surroundings. Sensors integrated into street lights detect vacant parking spaces and guide you there. LiDAR, an infrared light-based method for detecting objects and obstacles, and for measuring distances and speeds, enables fully and semi-autonomous driving.

10.00 a.m – How will you work in the future?
For example: Sensors detect our presence and the lights automatically turn on. The light is perfectly tailored to the natural progression of the day and supports your biorhythm.
3.00 p.m – How will you be treated in the future?
For example: Your smartwatch can measure bodily functions, and share this information with your physician, if you want.

6.00 p.m – How will you eat in the future?
For example, smart farming: When cultivating plants with intelligently controlled artificial light, it is possible to regulate their growth, compounds and much more – whether in an indoor growing box for use at home or in entire farms in buildings.

7.00 p.m – How will you go shopping in the future?
For example: Through Einstone beacon transmitters integrated in shop lighting tailor-made campaigns from in-store retailers are sent right to your smartphone, and show you special offers.

9.00 p.m – How will you be entertained in the future?
For example: Smart spotlights offer a unique light show to the audience – perfectly programmed and controlled by lighting designers.
